About Us
About Crafty Makers
Crafty Makers was created from a simple idea: children need more opportunities to make things with their hands.
In a world increasingly dominated by screens, packed schedules and ready-made entertainment, we want to create space for something refreshingly simple — cutting, painting, building, experimenting, getting messy, solving problems and proudly taking something home that began as an idea.

Meet the Founders
Two makers, one idea.
Kate
Co-founder
Kate is an artist and homeschooling mother of five with a long-standing belief in the value of children making, exploring and learning with their hands.
Her experience spans running a creative studio in South Africa, working with children in nature-based groups in the UK, providing in-home childcare, co-running a London design studio with her husband, and teaching preschool within a homeschool co-op.
Across all of it runs the same thread: creativity, childhood and the importance of giving children the time and freedom to make.
Mariette
Co-founder
Mariette is an artist and mother of two whose creative career has crossed art direction, publishing, product design and community-based projects.
From working in magazine art direction to building a baby-furniture business and contributing to creative initiatives in her community, she brings both a strong creative eye and the practical experience of turning ideas into things people can actually use, enjoy and connect with.
Why Crafty Makers?
What we believe.
Make with your hands
Children learn differently when they can touch, build, test, change and create something for themselves.
Room to be creative
We give children enough structure to get started, with plenty of freedom to explore ideas and make each project their own.
Time and Space to Create
Crafty Makers gives children time to slow down, focus and enjoy the simple satisfaction of making.
Creative confidence
The goal is not perfection. It is helping children become comfortable experimenting, solving problems and saying, "I made this."
Where we're starting
Cincinnati first. More to come.
We're starting with after-school clubs in Cincinnati elementary schools, bringing thoughtfully planned arts, crafts and STEAM experiences directly to children at the end of their school day — with more creative classes and programs to come.
